The Big Squeeze: Boyle works in a bar to aid her injured ballplayer spouse Bercovici but then come to see that he’s neglected to notify her of a $130,000 settlement he’s acquired, so she enlists the services of a drifter-hustler (Dobson) to get the money. Cast includes Lara Flynn Boyle, Peter Dobson, Danny Nucci, Luca Bercovici, Teresa Despina, and Michael Chieffo. (98 minutes, 1996)
Disturbia: Kale has had his life turned upside down. His father’s death, which he feel responsible for has traumatized him badly. Snapping on an insensitive teacher, he punches the guy out. Instead of jail time he must serve a period of house confinement. Going stir crazy stuck at home, Kale, and his girlfriend Ashley, start spying on the neighbors. This voyeurism gets serious when they start to suspect that one of the neighbors is a serial killer.
Austin Powers in Goldmember: Austin is back, and this time he faces not only Dr. Evil, but also a new threat in Goldmember. Dr. Evil is traveling through, and Austin is on the chase. He must save his father Nigel from being captured by Dr. Evil.
Amistad: This film is based on the true story of an unsuccessful mutiny aboard a slave ship in 1839 bound for the US. The subsequent trial would put the entire foundation of the US legal system on trial. Three great men, abolitionist Theodore Joadson, lawyer Roger Baldwin, and former president John Quincy Adams fight for the freedom, and civil rights, of the African slaves.
The All-American Boy: Jumbled drama in reference to Olympic optimistic Voight’s effort to be a successful boxer; striking locations of northern California, but that’s all. Cast includes Jon Voight, Ned Glass, Anne Archer, and Carol Androsky. (104 minutes, 1989)
The Nutcracker Prince: Physician Down treats an obvious madman, who then goes through a hallucinatory rerun of his current experiences: he’s a French anthropologist who’s materialized in L.A. and has been drawn to a band of bizarre street people. Cast includes Megan Follows, Peter Brosnan, Adam Ant, Anna-Maria Monticelli, Hector Mercado, and Mary Woronov. (75 minutes, 1990)
Good to Go: Forgettable fare in reference to reporter Garfunkel, who’s framed on a rape-murder charge. Highlighted are the musical works of such groups as Redds & the Boys, Trouble Funk, Get rid of Brown & the Mind Scavengers, amid others. Cast includes Craft Garfunkel, Robert Doqui, Harris Yulin, Reginald Daughtry, Richard Brooks, Hattie Winston, and Anjelica Huston. (87 minutes, 1986)
Sentimental Journey: Maudlin yam of dying actress O’Hara adopting a small child to give spouse Payne a friend while she is gone; no holds barred here. Movie was redone as “The Present of Love” and for a 1984 Television film. Cast includes John Payne, Maureen O’Hara, William Bendix, Cedric Hardwicke, Glenn Langan, Mischa Auer, and Connie Marshall. (94 minutes, 1946)
