Sony have recently released their latest 40″ LCD TV, the Sony KDL40Z5500. Sony have implemented all of their latest developments meaning this TV is at the forefront of technology. An updated version of the Bravia engine is included, they have doubled the refresh rate to 200Hz and included a 10-bit panel.
The Sony KDL40Z5500 is a HD ready TV with a screen resolution of 1920×1080, the maximum currently available. The addition of both a digital tuner and a cable tuner allows for unparalleled viewing choice. Most Sony’s now come with the Bravia sync function an application that allows the user to use the Bravia remote to control all other devices with the one remote.
Motionflow is Sony’s innovation for reduces flicker and blur in fast paced programs. The latest version of Motionflow increases the frame rate of the Sony KDL40Z5500 TV to 200Hz which means that 200 frames of media are displayed on the T. V every second, twice as many as the next fastest speed TV.
The Bravia engine 3 is Sony’s latest release in the Bravia engine series, providing further enhancements in picture clarity, color depiction and overall viewing quality. The engine now offers full digital signal processing across a broad spectrum. Black levels have been increased to provide even more life-like colors and natural tones. The engine also auto-detects the appropriate picture setting to provide and unparalleled viewing experience.
Sony have also included a dynamic contrast ratio of 1m:1 this helps to improve the black levels whilst also improving the color representation. A 10-bit panel also allows for more data to be displayed on the Sony KDL40Z5500 screen at any time whilst the live color creation feature improves the colors displayed by 30% when compared to a conventional LCD.
Sony have included the Applicast function in this Bravia as well this allows the user to surf the internet whilst also watching the TV, without having to use a PC. DLNA is a group of manufacturers that are working together to allow their products to be linked together to transfer media from one medium to another providing an increased ease of use for the consumer.
Four HDMI have been placed on the Sony KDL40Z5500 TV 4 on the back and two on the side. This ensures that you will have enough connections to have all of your HD devices to be connected at the same time meaning no fiddling behind the TV to swap over the wires. A USB media player has been installed to allow direct playback of media on a USB stick.
The Sony KDL40Z5500 starts at a pricy $1670, although if you trade in an old TV at a selected store Sony will give you $300 cash back.
