There are certain topics that I will cover that are sure to help your search engine rankings. Domain name, url, title, description/body, and backlinks are prime examples.

Getting your domain name to match the keywords you desire makes things a whole lot easier. Over time I have noticed it to be relatively easy to rank for certain keywords when it is included in my domain. As for my domain names that are unrelated to the keywords, things are a little tougher. On average it will take double the amount of work to seo (search engine optimize) the website not including the keywords in the domain name.

Even though having the keywords included in your url does not help as much as it being in your domain name it still helps a great deal! Having the exact term is crucial. For example, if your going in on the keywords “repair man” having your url example.com/repairman or example.com/repair-man is the smartest thing to do.

The title is one of the most simple and most essential seo tactics in order to get your site to rank for the keywords of your choice. It can be changed at anytime. Sometimes putting less keyword rich title on your site is good & other times it isn’t. For example, The best repair man in the country versus top repair man. Keep your title for a month or so then if you aren’t fully satisfied and believe making a slight alteration will help your seo feel free to do so.

Your sites body should be keyword dense. Try to copy your competitors by looking at your keyword on google.com and looking at the top 10 results. Notice how many times and where the placement of the keywords are. I do not go above 10% keyword density as it can seem like spam.

Have your main keywords near the top and as you go down your website body use more long tailed keywords. It seems to be very effective.

If On-Site seo isn’t providing results you can always rely on your buddy backlinks. They are seen as votes to search engines. When other websites have your website mentioned on theres it will provide you with seo juice and help you without a doubt! This way google sees you are a long term worthy website. General techniques to create backlinks are by getting profile links, comment links, articles, social bookmarking and web 2.0.

Using software drastically speeds up this process. To be quite honest I personally use software to automate things from time to time.

There are other things that matter while doing seo. Such as domain age (which comes with time), PR (which I do not understand) and the size of your website. It seems to me the more pages within your website the better your main page will rank.

Find a keyword that fits you and will not have millions of competitors. Start easy and work your way up to keywords with more competition. Remember this is 2010. There is software out there to help you get your website to rank better.
